Hi all,

The 2nd Sinquefield Cup has begun, and how! The first three rounds have been a complete slugfest with lots of decided and interesting games.

During the third round there was a bit of an upset: World Champion Magnus Carlsen lost to world no. 2 Fabiano Caruana. I analyze the game below.

I’m sure this game shall be a turning point in Caruana ‘s ‘career ‘ if he remains humble and keeps the same work ethic . After the Olympiad , ‘ business as usual ‘ and usual loss against Carlsen , he really exploded in Dortmund and Saint Louis . Two victories like these ( summed : 14 / 17 ) can’t be a coincidence . Unless it’s a magic moment like Linares 1994 for Karpov , never again repeated , however , and when Karpov was 43 y.o.
