This is the first video in a new series called “Learn From The Masters”. It features Anatoly The Great as the Master. I try to make connections between his play and what I teach you.
Enjoy!

Excellent video! Karpov is my hero. Thanks.
@10:30: I think “redundance” is the word you’re looking for.
Hi James,
Exactly, that’s the word!
Thanks,
Waldemar
I very much enjoyed both the game and commentary. It has been written in several accounts of his career that Karpov was a “master” of placing his pieces and pawns in such a way as to render impotent the opponent’s pieces and pawns. That is very clearly illustrated in this game. It also shows the genius of Grandmasters, who can make such a difficult game look “easy.”
Great video, very instructional; Karpov’s moves are so simple once you understand the motive behind them! Thanks for making the video series Waldemar!
Great Lecture!. It is a great service indeed that you can explain Karpov’s move’s so well and clear!.
Have you thought about making a series of “Solitaire Chess” games where we will pause the video at each question in a master game like this…
Hi Pablo,
Hm, that’s an idea indeed…
I’ll think about it!
Greetings,
Waldemar
