this is a great lesson i did not see some of the moves during the pauses but i am learning. do i need special equipment to go through variations then with one click get back to the start of the variation? i see that learning to analyse is my main problem so i will keep studying

Yes, Rd5!! is an incredible move, and so was Re7!. Nevertheless my favourite here was the quiet Re1!.
Such a fascinating game with a very simple theme! You provide excellent commentary, making the ideas and the tactical opportunities very understandable. What I take from this game is Karpov’s simple yet lethal approach to the position. His Rd5! shows that he was not just a positional player.
